The Problem

German irregular verbs change their vowels. Take the verb "lügen" (to lie):

Now try to remember these letters: ü, o, o
Hard, isn't it? Just random vowels with no connection to anything. This is why most people struggle with irregular verbs.

But wait - it gets worse...

Here's another one. Try "nehmen" (to take):

And it gets worse: the h disappears and becomes mm in the Perfekt. So it's not just the vowels - even the spelling around them changes.

One more: "sein" (to be):

And every consonant changes too: s...n → w...r → w...s. The whole word transforms.
That's 3 verbs and it's already a mess. Now imagine 80+ verbs...

But there's a better way...

The Solution

Instead of memorizing random vowels, we use visual keywords that contain those exact vowels. Your brain remembers images much better than letters! E.g.:

TUBA

graben → grub → gegraben

CACTUS

singen → sang → gesungen

SKI LIFT

leihen → lieh → geliehen

Each verb comes with an illustration that helps you connect the verb to its keyword pattern. Your visual memory does the work!

TUBA contains U and A - exactly the vowels you need. The Präteritum takes U (grub), the Perfekt takes A (gegraben). Picture a tuba digging and you'll never forget the pattern.

CACTUS gives you A and U. The Präteritum takes A (sang), the Perfekt takes U (gesungen). Imagine a cactus singing - the image sticks, and the vowels come with it.

SKI LIFT has I twice - and that's exactly what happens: both the Präteritum and Perfekt use IE. Picture a ski lift lending out skis and you've got it.
Some verbs use I, others IE in the past forms - you'll pick that up naturally as you go, no extra categories needed.

Two Modes

Beginner - Learn Perfekt forms first. Verbs from all keyword groups mixed together. Once you've learned them all, you auto-switch to Advanced.

Advanced - Both Perfekt and Präteritum. All verbs shuffled across groups. Harder but builds long-term retention.

Switch anytime from the dashboard. Study 10 verbs with images, then quiz. Verbs you get right come back less often. Verbs you get wrong come back sooner - that's spaced repetition.
